The stage is now set for what looks like Nigeria’s first music festival in 2014. At the event slated for Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac, Lagos on Friday, March 7, celebrated entertainers such as King Sunny Ade, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, K Cee, Shina Peters, Daddy Showkey and Julius Agwu will grace the stage.
The festival, which is in its second edition, was inspired by three partners – Shousha Mohsen, a Swiss hotelier; K Cee himself and another artiste, Obinna Ufondu. According to Moshen, who is the General Manager of Golden Tulip, the target is to celebrate established acts and give budding ones an opportunity.
He notes, “Our aim is to create a legacy that will last for countless years to come and we are determined to create a festival that won’t fail to introduce fresh talents to the music scene in Nigeria. That is in addition to highlighting the efforts of the Nigerian music icons who established the music preferences and passion in the people throughout the years.”
Moshen also links the festival to the development of Nigerian culture, adding that the love and passion for music and the captivating Nigerian culture inspired the project, while it hopes to refine new talents.
The Managing Director of UACN property Development Company, Mr. Hakeem Ogunniran, says the company is supporting the festival because of the connection between music, culture and national development.
“”It is important for us to show our support and adoption for this music festival . We are trying to create a unique note in Festac. We believe that we should create this type of initiative to help people from different part of the country to have this type of unique opportunity,” Ogunniran says.
K Cee also notes that the historical importance of Festac – as a legacy town from the Festival of Arts and Culture –makes it a good venue for the festival. He adds that it will feature many other artistes apart from Shina Peters, Daddy Showkey and himself.
